David G. McDonald is on the Board of Directors of the OSI Group, serving as the President and the Chief Operating Officer. The international headquarters of the firm is located in Aurora, IL. The company has a longstanding history and heritage in Illinois, from where it has operated since 1909. Prior to his current appointments, David McDonald held the procession of Project Manager.
The company began as small butcher shop, and it was founded by an immigrant butcher of German descent. He ran the shop as a small business for many decades, and it was not until the mid 1950’s that the company began to grow and be noticed. This was the era when Ray Kroc, founder of the McDonald’s food chain, opened the first of his restaurants nearby. Then known as Otto and Sons, the company became the beef supplier to the McDonald’s store. Since that time, the company proudly supplies meat and other food items to many of the largest fast food chains and food service companies. Today, David McDonald is the Chairman of the North American Meat Institute.
David went to work at the OSI Group as his first job after his college graduation over 30 years ago. He grew up in the Midwest, where he and his family lived on a farm in Iowa. David McDonald graduated from Iowa State University with a Bachelor of Science degree. His studies were in the field of animal science. David has remained attached to his Midwest roots and his heritage as has OSI Group. He has been responsible for much of the growth that the company has experienced in its expansion throughout North America, Europe, and most recently in Australia. The company operates approximately 70 food processing facilities in nearly 20 countries. There are more than 20,000 employees of OSI Group located throughout the world.
David McDonald is active as an Iowa State alumni. He supports their Agricultural Entrepreneurship Initiative, he provides the opportunity for internships, and more.
