A Look at the Philanthropy Work and Activism of Betsy Devos

Betsy Devos has a long history of philanthropy and political activism. She started out at Calvin College, where she was active in campus politics. Later, she got involved in many political activism organizations. This runs in the family. Her husband was the Republican nominee for Governor of Michigan. She was the chairman of the Republican Party in Michigan for six years. Her philanthropy work is outstanding. She started the Dick and Betsy DeVos Family Foundation, which donated charity for many causes. Other organizations she started or worked for include DeVos Institute for Arts Management, Kids Hope USA, and more. Her political activism often centered around school education for children. For example, she served as chairman of American Federation for Children and the Alliance for School Choice. Other non-profit organizations she worked for in the 1990s include Children First America and the American Education Reform Council, which helped promote school choice through vouchers and stuff like that. Of course, after all of this non-profit and activism, Betsy Devos has been chosen by President Donald Trump as the Secretary of Education. She is the eleventh Secretary of Education. She served previously on the Republican National Committee and started as a volunteer for Gerald Ford in 1976. They started their family foundation, which gave and supported to Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital Pediatric Oncology Program, the West Michigan Aviation Academy, and many others. It focuses on five things: community, education, arts, justice, and leadership. Read more news on Los Angeles Times.

Under the broken system, children were trapped in schools they and their parents did not enjoy and did not want to attend. Through programs such as tax credits and vouchers for private and charter schools, the American Federation for Children was able to help over one million children be in schools they actually wanted to go to. Her husband founded the West Michigan Aviation Academy in 2010. This was an aviation school that was also a charter school. Her husband, Dick, did it with her encouragement. He loves aviation and it also helped promote school choice. Betsy has also mentored and worked with Kids Hope USA. This is an organization that pairs children in elementary schools who are at risk with mentors in churches around the country to help them succeed and not be left behind. Betsy DeVos has been a leader to help reform the school education system that has been current in the country for years, because it has many broken parts. Of course, because of her work and experience and dedication and philanthropy and stuff like that, she was chosen by the president for Secretary of Education.

  1. Betsy Devos was chairman of the American Federation for Children, also known as AFC. This organization worked to make school choices more available for American children. That is simply something that the best college essay writing service may have warned against and it’s happening right at their very face.
